Nystaform Cream is a light-yellow cream for use on the skin.

 

Nystaform Cream contains Nystatin and Chlorhexidine. Nystatin is an antifungal medication that helps fight infections caused by fungus.  Chlorhexidine has activity against a range of bacteria.

 

Nystaform Cream is used to help treat skin infections caused by fungi and/or bacteria such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, and infected nappy rash.

Nystaform Cream is a Prescription Only Medicine. Prescription-only medicines must be prescribed by a qualified health professional. This may be a GP, hospital doctor, nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist or podiatrist.

Active ingredients

Nystatin 100,000 I.U./g, chlorhexidine hydrochloride 1.0% w/w. Always read the label

  • benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl esters wax, octyldodecanol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate and purified water

Documentation

Like all medicines, Nystatin and Chlorhexidine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Some patients may have one or more of the following side effects in the area where they apply

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
  • A red itchy skin rash
  • Wheezing or difficulty breathing
  • Feeling faint and dizzy
  • A strange metallic taste in the mouth
  • If so, you may be having an allergic reaction

In rare cases, severe allergic reactions can be caused, leading to a drop in blood pressure and even to unconsciousness. Early symptoms of a severe allergic reaction may be a skin rash or asthma. If you notice these symptoms, stop using Nystaform Cream and contact your doctor immediately.

All medicines cause adverse events and should not be used in certain circumstances and by certain people with certain health issues. Please see Patient Information Leaflet within Documentation Section above.

Adverse events

Reporting suspected adverse reactions after authorisation of the medicinal product is important. It allows continued monitoring of the benefit/risk balance of the medicinal product. Patients and Healthcare professionals are asked to report any suspected adverse reactions via the Yellow Card Scheme at www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard or search for MHRA Yellow Card in the Google Play or Apple App Store.
